Krugersdorp crash leaves three injured

Three people were injured during an accident on Engelbrecht Street in Oatlands, Krugersdorp last night.

Netcare 911 paramedics, other services and the fire department arrived at the scene and found that a motor vehicle and heavy goods vehicle were involved in a side impact crash. The heavy goods vehicle crashed against the driver door of the motor vehicle.

The driver of the motor vehicle were entrapped in the vehicle and the fire department had to make use of specialised equipment to extricate the injured man from the vehicle. Upon assessment of the man, paramedics found that the man had sustained critical injuries during the crash. The Netcare1 helicopter was activated to airlift the critically injured man to hospital for the urgent medical care and treatment that he required.

The other two occupants in the vehicle, a woman and boy, were also found to have sustained injuries and after receiving treatment at the scene, both patients were transported to hospital for further medical care.

The driver of the heavy goods vehicle were not injured during the crash.

Exact detail surrounding the cause of the crash and preceding events are unknown and will remain the subject of a police investigation.
