Yesterday, members from the Umlazi Crime Intelligence, Provincial Tracking Team and Umhlali K9 arrested a 43-year-old suspect at Eshowe for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
Members from the crime intelligence unit had gathered information on a planned hit on one of the residents in the Eshowe area. After the information was verified and the alleged hit man identified, an operation was planned. The Provincial Tracking Team together with the Umhlali K9 Unit were brought on board.
In the early hours of this morning, an intelligence driven operation was conducted in the Ntumeni area where police arrested a 43-year-old suspect who was found in possession of an AK47 rifle with 41 live rounds of ammunition, a 9mm CZ75 pistol, a Taurus 9mm pistol and 67 live rounds of ammunition.
The suspect will appear at the Eshowe Magistrates Court later today.
