Two people tragically lost their lives after an Eighteen Wheeler and a car collided at the intersection of the M7 and N2 this morning at around 11h15. A report from the scene indicates that the truck was driving towards Durban and collided with the vehicle driving across the intersection. Exact detail to the cause however will remain a subject for police investigation and comment.
Netcare 911 paramedics the fire services , Police Rescue and several other services arrived at the scene and found the wreckage of the car about 40 meters from the remains of the truck, the truck veered off the road after impact went up an embankment and slammed into the bridge. The driver of the truck was trapped in the twisted frame of his vehicle and tragically died on impact.
The driver of the ca, a man in his fifties sustained life-threatening injuries. Paramedics worked fervently to resuscitate the man at the scene, tragically though despite their efforts he was declared dead at the scene.
