There has been a fatal crash on the R61 between Ramsgate and Southbroom, on the KZN South Coast.
The crash, which occurred after 2am this morning, reportedly involved an SUV and a bakkie. It resulted in the highway having to be closed to traffic, while emergency crews worked at the scene. Sadly one person has sustained fatal injuries in the crash.
Paramedics from KZN Emergency Medical Services and a local private ambulance service treated three patients, who have survived the collision. The jaws of life had to be used to free two of the patients. The patients, two of whom had sustained serious injuries and one, who had minor injuries, were stabilised at the scene and transported to hospital.
The cause of the crash is not known at this stage and will be investigated by the police.
