Nongoma police arrested a 25-year-old suspect for murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm. Police received intelligence of a murder suspect at Matshamhlophe area in Nongoma. On arrival at the location the suspect was searched and was found in possession of 9mm pistol as well as ammunition. He was immediately arrested. It was found that the suspect was wanted for a murder he committed in 2011 in the Matshamhlophe area. Celumusa Khumalo (22) was found stabbed to death outside his homestead; he had sustained stab wounds on his right eye and left ear. The motive for the killing is unknown.

The suspect is due to appear in the Nongoma Magistrate’s Court for murder and being in possession of an unlicensed firearm. The firearm will be subjected to ballistic testing to ascertain if it was used in the commission of any other crime within the country.
