Suspect arrested and counterfeit goods to the value of R500,000 seized by police

The Emanguzi police, who were stationed along the border of Mozambique, followed information about goods hidden in the bush within the Emanguzi area on 20 October 2015. The members followed up on the information and while upon observation for over a day, waiting for the owner to come, a woman arrived to collect the goods and was arrested the next day.

A total of 199 bales of fake clothes, 60 pairs of Guess jeans and a fake cream, with a combined value of approximately R500 000, 00 was confiscated.

A 52-year-old suspect appeared in the Emanguzi Magistrate’s Court on 22 October 2015 for possession of fake goods.

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni commended the Emanguzi police for the arrest of the suspect and seizure of counterfeit goods.
