A man was killed and woman injured after a collision last night on Albert Wessels Road in Newcastle, KwaZulu Natal.
When ER24 paramedics arrived on scene, they found that a bakkie and light motor vehicle had collided head-on. Both lay in the middle of the road.
On assessment, paramedics found the lifeless body of a man lying trapped inside the light motor vehicle. Unfortunately the patient had already succumbed to his multiple, fatal injuries.
The woman from the bakkie was assessed and found to have sustained only minor injuries. Paramedics treated and thereafter transported the patient to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
Rescue services had to use the jaws of life equipment the free the body from the vehicle at a later stage.
Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
