A 35-year-old mother and her two children, one daughter aged 6 days and the other 3 years old, were injured this afternoon when they jumped out of a moving vehicle at the Glenwood and Glenville Road intersection in Durban.
ER24 paramedics arrived on scene to find the bakkie parked on the side of the road while the mother and children were found sitting on the side of the road.
On assessment, paramedics found that all three patients had sustained moderate injuries to their head and arms.
Paramedics treated the patients and thereafter transported them to King Edward Hospital for further treatment.
The driver apparently lost control of the vehicle. The mother apparently managed to get the children out of the moving vehicle in attempt to save them. The mother then apparently jumped out of the vehicle.
The driver, a man, managed to stop the vehicle in time. He fortunately escaped without injury.
Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
