Members of the SAPS Search and Rescue Unit were called out early this morning to the Ramatlhwa Village after residents alerted the Police to the sounds of a baby crying in a pit toilet.
Sergeant Levi Mabethlela eventually succeeded in bringing the newborn girl back to the surface.
She was taken to hospital for treatment.
