This morning at 06h06 Netcare 911 paramedics responded to a taxi that had overturned on the Elandskop Road about six kilometres from the Edendale hospital in Pietermaritzburg. Exact detail to the cause of the crash is still speculative and will form part of the South African Police investigation.
Netcare 911 paramedics and several other services arrived at the scene and found that one person had tragically died while nineteen others sustained injuries ranging from serious to minor. Medics stabilised the injured at the scene and then transported them to various hospitals for further medical care.
