SAPS members in their numbers have descended on the province’ s beaches as people flocked to the coastline today. Locals and visitors are taking advantage of the good weather and family day to spend time at the province’s popular beaches.
Police officials on foot, horseback and in vehicles are ensuring that beachgoers are safe while they enjoy the holiday season. Vehicle Check Points are being conducted on major routes leading to beaches throughout the province. Where necessary, there will be air support.
Beachgoers as well as holidaymakers are urged to abide by the rules at these public spaces. Parents and guardians are advised keep an eye on children during this busy time. In the event of a child going missing, contact must be made with police in the area.
Provincial police management, including Acting Provincial Commissioner Lt Gen Gary Kruser, are also visiting local beaches and parks in order to support and supervise planned operations. #CrimeMustFall #BackToBasics
