150 SAPS and Metro Police officials deployed in Cape Town for Crime Prevention

The South African Police Service in conjunction with the City of Cape Town Law enforcement officials embarked on a Lockdown operation on the Cape Flats yesterday in an effort to curb crime during the festive season. The operation started yesterday in areas such as Manenberg, Hanover Park, Steenberg, Grassy Park and Ottery. In the 24 hours since the operation started, no crimes incidents and shootings were reported in the areas.

This morning saw the deployment of more than 150 SAPS and Metro Police officials to various places throughout the Metropole to conduct vehicle check points, stop and searches and other crime prevention initiatives.

Western Cape Acting Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Gary Kruser thanked all police officials for their dedication and efforts during this busy time. “Go out there and make the communities of the Western Cape safer. In executing your duties to be vigilant at all times. We cannot afford to lose more police members. Your safety comes first”.
