Two men have been left injured, one seriously so in a collision involving two light motor vehicles at the intersection of the R102 and Stonebridge Drive in Phoenix, north of Durban this morning.
Crisis Medical paramedics arrived on the scene to find two light motor vehicles had collided in a T-bone fashion with the driver of one of the cars having sustained serious injury and entrapped in his vehicle.
With the assistance of the Ethekwini Fire and Rescue services, the “Jaws-of-Life” were used to cut the man free and once he was stabilized under advanced life support care, he was placed onto a trauma board and transported by Crisis Medical ambulance to a nearby hospital for further care.
A driver of the secondary vehicle, also male and believed to be in his late forties, sustained minor to moderate injuries in the ordeal and was treated on scene before being taken by ambulance to hospital for further assessment.
The facts surrounding the incident and the cause there of, are unclear and will remain subject of a South African Police Services investigation.
