Crisis Medical paramedics along with members of the South African Police Services search and rescue unit,were called to the Blue Lagoon pier for a reported drowning.
On arrival it was discovered that a thirty four year old female had been retrieved from the sea by the life guards on duty and was in a serious condition.
Advanced life support intervention was required to stabilize her before she was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further care.
The exact facts surrounding the incident are unclear and will form part of a South African Police Services investigation.
