One man died and two others sustained moderate injuries in a collision in Mariannhill.
ER24 paramedics arrived on scene just after midnight and found that a bakkie and car had collided.
There was one occupant trapped in the bakkie.
The man believed to be about 40 years of age was assessed. He showed no signs of life. There was nothing that could be done for him and he was declared dead.
The two occupants of the car were found lying next to the vehicle.
Paramedics assessed the driver, believed to be 33 years of age, and the passenger, believed to be 26 years of age, and found that they sustained moderate injuries. They were treated and transported to local hospitals for further medical care.
The exact cause of the incident is unknown.
Authorities were on scene for further investigations.
