10 Cars damaged, tyres slashed and windscreens damaged in Inchanga

KZN MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Willies Mchunu, has condemned in strongest possible terms the attacks on community members at Inchanga which led to two people being killed, five sustaining injuries and many cars being damaged.

Mchunu was commenting after two people were shot and killed with five others being injured in Inchanga yesterday. It is alleged that there was a community meeting at Kandokweni Sports Ground, Freadville when a shootout ensued.

At least ten cars were damaged, tyres were slashed and windscreens damaged. Police are investigating.

Today (25 January 2016), Mchunu condemned the attacks on community members and malicious damage to property. He urged community members to refrain from violence but rather solve their differences through peaceful engagements.

“Our community members cannot be held at ransom by few lawless criminals. We will work around the clock to ensure that we bring the perpetrators of these heinous crimes to book and ensure they face the full might of the law.”

“We appeal to anyone with information on this case to bring it to our attention so that we ensure that these criminals are arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” said Mchunu.

Mchunu also sent his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and wished those who are injured a speedy recovery.
