16 people were injured this afternoon when the Nissan bakkie they were traveling in overturned on Kudjana road in Tzaneen.
When paramedics arrived on scene they found two people that were in a critical condition. A man and a woman sustained critical injuries and had to be stabilised on the scene before they could be transported to a nearby hospital.
It is understood that fourteen people were sitting on the back of the bakkie when it overturned. All of them were flung from the vehicle. Majority of the occupants sustained fractures, scrapes and bruises.
The exact cause of the incident is not yet known. All of the patients were removed by ER24 and other services from the scene.
