Earlier this morning emergency services were called to one of the access roads leading into Port Shepstone taxi rank, where a woman had been knocked by a truck.
Paramedics from the Department of Health’s Emergency Medical Services, the police and local fire department responded to the call. When paramedics arrived, they found a large group of by standers, surrounding the scene, which had been cordoned off by the police. The woman, aged 75, was lying lifeless in the middle of the road, with the truck which had reportedly struck her parked a short distance away.
When the woman was examined by paramedics, it was found that she had sadly sustained fatal injuries and that she had sadly already passed away.
The exact circumstances resulting in this tragic incident are not known at this stage and will be investigated by the police.
