One person has been killed and four others have been injured, one critically so after two vehicles collided at the intersection of Umgeni Road and Electron Road Durban just after 8pm on Saturday evening.
Rescue Care Paramedics arrived on the scene to find that two vehicles had collided in a T Bone format in the junction. One vehicle had four occupants inside whilst the second vehicle had only the driver. One of the drivers had suffered extensive injuries and passed away before paramedics could arrive on the scene. He was declared on the scene. One of the passengers was in a critical condition and Rescue Care and Netcare 911 Advanced Life Support Paramedics placed the injured lady on a manual ventilator. Once all four patients had been stabilized on scene they were transported to various Durban Hospitals for the further care that they required.
At this stage it is unclear what caused the collision however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
