A man believed to be in his thirties has been left fighting for his life after he was struck by a truck whilst attempting to cross the busy N2 highway earlier today.
Crisis Medical paramedics arrived on the scene on the N2 north bound near Briardene, to find the man lying in the roadway having suffered traumatic brain injuries.
Advanced life support intervention was needed to stabilize the man, before he was placed on to a mechanical ventilator to assist him in breathing.
Once stabilized, he was placed on to a specialized stretcher and taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for the immediate specialist care he required.
He remains in a critical condition in hospital.
