A man, believed to be in his 30s, was left seriously injured late this afternoon after he fell roughly 15 metres in Steve Biko Street in Potchefstroom.
ER24 paramedics were alerted to the scene by a member of public who had witnessed the incident.
On arrival, paramedics found the patient lying on the floor surrounded by a crowd of people.
On assessment, paramedics found that the man had sustained serious injuries to his head, chest and pelvis. The patient was also in a critical condition.
Paramedics quickly treated the patient and transported him to Mediclinic Potchefstroom for urgent treatment.
The patient was stabilised at hospital and was thereafter airlifted by the ER24 helicopter to a private hospital in Johannesburg for further treatment.
The cause of the incident is under investigation by local authorities.
