Roughly 80 people suffered apparent food poisoning this afternoon at a resort near Ventersburg in the Free State.
ER24 paramedics, along with other services, received the emergency call and immediately responded to the scene.
On arrival, paramedics were ushered to a conference room where the patients were found.
On assessment, paramedics found that roughly 80 people were complaining of severe abdominal pain and vomiting.
ER24 paramedics, along with provincial and other private services, began to treat the patients for their aliments.
A provincial doctor was flown in to assist the paramedics in treating the patients.
A total of 18 patients were transported to Bongani and Katleho Hospital for further treatment.
The cause of the incident is not yet known but will be investigated further.
