At 17h30 on Friday afternoon Netcare 911 paramedics received a call for a man that was struck on the head with a Panga near the intersection of the R61 and the Izotcha Road on the Natal south coast. Reports from the scene indicate that the man was hit in the head and then robbed of his belongings.
Paramedics arrived at the scene and found the patient at the side of the road with extensive injuries to the head. Medics stabilised the man at the scene before transporting him to a hospital in Port Shepstone for the care that he required.
