On Friday night at 22h13 Netcare 911 paramedics received a call for a vehicle that overturned on the N2 South near the Umbogintwini off ramp in Amanzimtoti. Reports from the scene indicate that a bakkie with people on the back veered off the road and overturned. A Female sitting on the back was thrown from the vehicle and landed on the North bound carriageway where she was hit by another vehicle.
Paramedics arrived at the scene and found the female still trapped under the chassis of the vehicle that hit her. Emergency services worked tirelessly for more than thirty minutes to extricate her from under the vehicle. Tragically, she died at the scene due to the extensive injuries that she sustained. Four other people were injured but were removed to hospital privately before our arrival.
Exact detail to the cause of the crash and preceding events will form part of the South African Police investigation.
