Fisherman saves holidaymaker in near drowning at Amanzimtoti

On Thursday evening at 18h15 Netcare 911 paramedics received a call for a drowning on the Amanzimtoti beach in front of Strandburg flats. Reports indicate that holidaymakers from Johannesburg had gone for a swim when one of the men was caught in a rip current.

A Fisherman walking past swam out and pulled the man back to the beach. When paramedics arrived they found bystanders treating the victim that suffered severe near drowning symptoms. Paramedics stabilised the man at the scene before they transported him to a hospital in Umlazi for the care that he required.
