Two killed and at least 9 injured in Alberton taxi crash

Two people were killed and at least nine others were injured when a taxi driver lost control of the vehicle on the R59/N12 in the Alberton area this morning.

ER24 paramedics and other services arrived on scene and found that the taxi had rolled multiple times and landed a few metres away from the road on an embankment.

Sadly there was nothing that could be done for two patients found several metres away from the taxi. They had succumbed to their injuries.

They as well as two other patients who were critically injured were believed to have been ejected from the taxi.

One of the critically injured patients was airlifted to hospital. The other critically injured patient and other patients who sustained moderate injuries were transported to hospital by ambulance.

The exact cause of the incident is unknown.

Authorities were on scene for further investigations.
