A woman in her 50s died this morning after she collapsed next to Karkloof Road in Howick, KwaZulu Natal.
ER24 paramedics were standing by at their satellite when a member of public approached them and informed paramedics that a woman was lying next to the road, believed to have been hit by a vehicle.
On arrival, paramedics found that the patient lay next to the road showing no signs of life.
ER24 paramedics immediately began CPR and advanced life support treatment.
Unfortunately, after 45 minutes of treatment, no vital signs returned and the woman was declared dead on scene.
It is believed that the woman had collapsed while walking to work and had not been hit by a vehicle as initially reported.
The exact detail to the cause of the woman collapsing will remain a subject for police investigation.
