A man in his 30s was killed and five others injured this morning after a bakkie rolled off the N1 highway near the Randfontein Off-ramp in Vanderbijlpark.
ER24 paramedics arrived on scene shortly before 07h40 this morning to find a bakkie lying some distance off the road. Occupants from the bakkie were found lying all around the scene.
On assessment, paramedics found the lifeless body of a man lying next to the road. The man had apparently been ejected off the back of the bakkie.
Unfortunately, the man had already succumbed to his multiple fatal injuries. Nothing more could be done for the man and he was declared dead on scene.
Five other patients were found on scene with various injuries, including the driver who was critically injured.
Paramedics treated the patients and provided the driver with advanced life support.
Once treated, all the patients were transported to various hospitals for urgent treatment.
It is understood that the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll multiple times and ejecting the patients.
Local authorities were on scene to investigate further.
