On Tuesday afternoon, Netcare 911 paramedics received a call for a near drowning incident at the beach near the Umhlanga lighthouse. Reports indicate that a group of females in their twenties went swimming at an unprotected area when they landed in a rip current.
Quick action from the Life Guards from the Bating beach defiantly ensured that the women did not drown. Paramedics arrived at the scene and found that the lifeguards had pulled the woman from the sea and was treating them for near drowning symptoms. Medics stabilised the females at the scene before they transported them to various hospitals for the care that they required.
