Yesterday afternoon just after 4pm EMER-G-MED’s RV5, M02, A09 and A10 responded to the scene of a serious taxi crash on the N3 North before the Elands interchange, in Germiston – east of Johannesburg.
It’s believed that the taxi collided with a stationary vehicle, causing it to lose control and then crash into the centre barrier.
Unfortunately on assessment paramedics found that one passenger had already succumbed to their injuries. Nothing further could be done and the patient was declared dead on the scene.
Upwards of six other occupants were also injured in the collision. One patient was in a serious condition and required Advanced Life Support care.
Once stabilised on-scene the patients were transported to various nearby facilities for further medical treatment.
Local authorities were on-scene to investigate further.
