Yesterday morning a collision on the N1 South over Botha road left a female passenger with serious spinal injuries.
Just after 9am EMER-G-MED’s RV7, M05, V02 and A08 responded to the scene, arriving to find the seriously injured patient still seated in the car.
The City of Tshwane Fire Department used the jaws of life to remove the car’s roof, enabling paramedics to extricate the patient without any unnecessary movement – limiting any further injury.
Once extricated the patient was transported under Advanced Life Support care to a nearby trauma centre.
The cause of the collision is unclear and will be investigated by local authorities.
