Following information about a suspect allegedly in possession of ammunition, an intelligence-led operation in conjunction with the Bloemfontein K-9 Unit was conducted yesterday, 28 April 2016, in the Batho Location, Mangaung, Bloemfontein.
The following were items were recovered and confiscated:
– 33 x R5 rifle Live rounds
– 2 x ballistic R5 rifle Live rounds
– 1 x 9 mm Short round
– 4 x 9 mm Parabellum Live rounds
– 1 x black Telescope
– 1 x green used Hand Grenade
– 1 x 20 mm Hei round
– 1 X 20 mm AP round
– 1 x dummy Hand Grenade.
The suspect, a lieutenant in the SANDF, was arrested and detained at Parkweg Police Station. The suspect had a warrant of arrest issued against him for murder.
