On Friday afternoon Netcare 911 paramedics responded to a taxi that rolled on the N3 ten kilometres from Warden in the Free State. Reports from the scene indicate that the wheel of the taxi burst, it veered off the road and overturned. The twisted frame came to rest on its wheels in the veldt some distance from the roadway.
Medics arrived at the scene and found accident debris and luggage spread over a large area. After the injured were triaged it was found that two people tragically died before our arrival, thirteen others sustained injuries ranging from serious to minor.
Netcare 911 and the Provincial paramedics worked hand in hand to stabilise the injured at the scene before they were transported to nearby hospitals for the care that they required.
