Pedestrian knocked over, killed on R21 south before Tembisa

A pedestrian was knocked over and killed earlier this morning on the R21 south before Tembisa.

ER24 paramedics who were driving back to base came across what they thought was a bumper bashing between two bakkies.

The two bakkies were in the yellow lane of the highway. There was quite extensive damage to one of the bakkies.

When the paramedics went to see if anyone in the vehicles were injured they saw a man lying on the highway.

It is understood that he was knocked by one of the bakkies. The driver of the other bakkie stopped on scene following the incident.

The pedestrian believed to be in his late 20’s, early 30’s, had sadly succumbed to his injuries.

He sustained multiple severe injuries. He was declared dead.

The exact cause of the incident is unknown. Authorities were on scene for further investigations.
