Western Cape: The Delft SAPS Management wishes to applaud our community for the positive partnership that was created in the Delft area. Numerous requests from the management reaped benefits once again when information was forwarded to our members on the illicit use and possession of firearms in the area.
On Friday (2015-05-20) at approximately 19:35 two men aged 43 and 46 were arrested, when the SAPS National Intervention Unit (NIU) followed up information about the illegal possession of fire arms and ammunition at the Delft South Taxi Rank. Members reacted swiftly and searched a container used by the Delft South Taxi Operators which led to the arrest of the two suspects and the confiscation of ample ammunition and two firearms.
The 46 year old suspect was found to be in possession of a .38 Special Taurus firearm with its serial number filed off. The 43 year old suspect was apprehended for the illegal possession of a 9mm Star with the serial number filed off, 9x9mm live rounds and a magazine. Members also found a bag with different kinds of ammunition. It is believe that both the arrested suspects are affiliated to the taxi industry.
Both faces charges of illegal possession of fire arms and ammunition and will appear in the Bellville Magistrates’ Court on Monday 23 May 2016. #CrimeMustFall
