Robbery suspects arrested after car chase in Eastern Cape

Eastern Cape: King Williams Town: On Monday 4 July, members from the Flying Squad, K9 and East London TRT arrested three males and one female aged between 22 and 49 from Port Elizabeth and King Williams Town at about 12h00.

It is alleged the suspects were from Port Elizabeth this morning to stage a robbery in King Williams Town and East London.

It is furthet alleged this morning the quartet robbed a business at Oxford Street in East London and fled the scene with the white Polo Vivo. The Polo Vivo was hijacked at New Brighton, Port Elizabeth on Thursday.

After the robbery they fled to the direction of King Williams Town and Police gave chase.

On Alexander Road, the Police members spotted the vehicle and managed to stop it and there were four occupants inside, three males and a female.

On investigation, Police discovered that the other two occupants hitch-hiked from East London to King Williams Town. They searched the vehicle and found two firearms and a magazine with three rounds and revolver special with five rounds, with serial numbers are filed off.

Four cellphones were also recovered. The suspects are all charged with possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition and possession of stolen vehicle.

The suspects will appear at King Williams Town Magistrate Court on Wednesday 6 July.
