A man was left with 2nd degree burns after a fire broke out in a shack in Steadville, Ladysmith last night. The fire allegedly broke out due to a candle that fell over in the home.
When ER24 paramedics arrived on scene, they found that the fire department was already busy extinguishing the fire. Upon assessment they found that one person had sustained burn wounds to his lower legs and feet. The man was treated and transported by ER24 to Ladysmith Provincial Hospital for further treatment. Fortunately, no other injuries were sustained.
The actual cause of the fire is still unknown, local authorities were on scene for further investigation.
