An abandoned new-born girl was found near a police station in Moweni, Durban, this morning.
Shortly before 8am paramedics were called to the Moweni Police Station for a new-born that was found. It is understood that a member of the public found the little girl close to the police station and took her to the station to call for help. When paramedics arrived, they were informed that the new-born was taken to the Moweni Clinic for care. Paramedics from ER24 and CEMS Volunteers made their way to the clinic to assist.
Upon arrival, nurses were caring for the baby. The baby had to be transported to a hospital as she was in a serious condition. Paramedics from ER24 arranged with Hillcrest Private Hospital to assist with the stabilisation of the new-born. The hospital staff and doctors stabilised the new-born and will provide care until she is stable enough to be transferred to RK Khans Hospital.
It is believed the new-born is only a few hours old.
