The body of an infant girl, believed to be no more than a year old, was found ths afternoon in a river near Roosewall Plot Road near Bloemfontein in the Free State.
ER24 paramedics were called by local authorities who received the call from the farmer who had spotted the body.
Search and Rescue, along with ER24 paramedics, found the body of the child lying amongst some rocks along the river.
On assessment, it was clear that the child had been dead for some time. Nothing more could be done for the patient and she was declared dead on scene.
The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
