One dead, another serious following electrocution incident at farm outside Somerset West

One person sustained fatal burn wounds and another sustained serious wounds after being electrocuted while working at a farm earlier today.

The incident took place close to R44 just outside Somerset West.

It is believed that the industrial vehicle they were in came into contact with power lines and they were electrocuted. Upon arrival at the scene, paramedics found one of the men, believed to be in his 60’s, in a critical condition. Paramedics had to resuscitate him however, despite all efforts to save the man, he sadly died.

The second man believed to be in his 20’s sustained multiple burn wounds. He was treated and transported to hospital for further medical care.
