This morning, at approximately 10am, EMER-G-MED’s RV5, M08 and A04 were dispatched to reports of a shooting on the M1 North after Xavier near the BP Oasis, Johannesburg South.
It’s believed that a security officer was shot during a attempted cash in transit heist which occurred in Nasrec – the injured officer fled the scene and drove to safety at the BP Oasis.
On arrival paramedics found that the officer had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was in a critical condition.
Paramedics stabilised the patient, performing multiple Advanced Life Support interventions, before he was rushed to Netcare Milpark Hospital for urgent specialist care.
A criminal case has been opened and is being investigated by the South African Police Services.
