11 Year old critical in pedestrian collision

An eleven year old boy was left in a critical condition after he was knocked down by a vehicle on West Street in Pietermaritzburg CBD this morning.

Shortly after 10am paramedics arrived on the scene where they found the young boy lying behind the vehicle. He was in a critical condition and sustained multiple injuries. Paramedics from ER24 stabilised him and placed him on life support before he was rushed to Greys Hospital for further care.

It is understood that he was walking with his grandmother and ten year old cousin when he apparently ran across the road. The female driver of the vehicle was not injured in the incident.
