A man, believed to be in his 20s, was killed this morning after he sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was left in a field in Muvhango Extension 14 in Bophelong.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the man lying in the field with SAPS members in attendance.
Paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained several gunshot wounds to his chest and arms and was in a critical condition.
Paramedics immediately began their treatment and provided the patient with several advanced life support interventions.
Once treated, the patient was transported to a nearby hospital.
Unfortunately, on route to hospital, the patients vital signs diminished. Paramedics initiated CPR for some time.
After a short time, no vital signs signs returned and the man was declared dead.
The exact cause of the incident are not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
