On Thursday afternoon at 17h09 Netcare 911 paramedics and Marshall Security responded to reports of a drowning in Firwood Road Avoca , Durban. Reports from the scene indicate that the forty-one-year-old man dove into the pool and hit his head on the bottom.
Paramedics from Netcare and Marshall Security arrived at the scene and found the man at the side of the pool with indications of spinal injuries. As the patient’s condition was critical the Netcare emergency care practitioner placed the man on to a ventilator to assist with his breathing. The patient was skilfully immobilised on a trauma board to prevent any further injuries to his spine, they then transported him to a specialised hospital in Durban for the care that he required.
