At 12h23 on Friday afternoon Netcare 911 paramedics responded to a drowning incident at the Umhlanga main beach. Reports from the scene indicate that a holidaymaker from Gauteng got into difficulty after going into the water to have a swim. Quick action from the Lifeguards ensured that they got to him as he started going under water.
Paramedics arrived at the scene and found that the man presented with near drowning symptoms. The patient was stabilised at the scene before they transported him to a nearby hospital for further care.
