One person was killed and three others sustained various injuries in a collision at the intersection of Longmarket and West Streets in Pietermaritzburg.
At approximately 1am this morning, paramedics arrived on scene and found a man still trapped in his vehicle with fatal injuries. There was nothing that they could do for him and he was declared dead.
Three occupants from the other vehicle were assessed and treated for various injuries before they were rushed to hospital. Bystanders explained that the driver of the vehicle absconded prior to paramedics’ arrival on scene.
The exact circumstances surrounding the collision is not yet known and will be investigated.
