It’s been a busy Easter weekend for our Western Cape rescue teams. On Friday the Western Cape Department of Health EMS/AMS rescue helicopter was dispatched to Lions Head to airlift a 15 year old male patient off the mountain after he slipped and fell.
Later the afternoon the rescue helicopter was dispatched to Velddrift for a sea rescue. Early Saturday morning the rescue helicopter was dispatched to the Villiersdorp area to airlift a 13 year old boy off a ledge after he fell off a cliff while hiking.
On Sunday the crews were once again dispatched for a mountain rescue to Du Toitskloof. We thank everyone involved that assisted with these very technical rescues to ensure that the patients were airlifted and transported to hospital to receive the necessary medical care.
Rescue crew for the weekend: Captains Francois Smit & Donovan Kohl, external load operator David Bruiners, METRO rescuer Shaheed Osman, METRO paramedic Antoinette Burrows and WSAR technical rescuers.
