Ethekwini Inner South Cluster is successfully running their new Operational Command Centre (OCC) in full force to combat the crime within the Ethekwini Inner South area. The Cluster’s Operational Command Centre will run ‘specialized units’ such as the Trio Crime Task Team, Crime Combatting Team, as well as the Durban TRT, which will be assisting the OCC during operations.
The OCC will also host multi-disciplinary operations within the area, with Durban Metro and Chatsworth Metro, as well as Public Order Policing, Rapid Rail Policing Unit and other policing units.
The plans for the Operational Command Centre is to assist the Cluster in drastically reducing the crime within the area, which the Trio Crime Task Team is currently working on. The Trio Crime Task Team has received a brand new high performance vehicle to help the members tackle Trio Crimes, which include House Robberies, Business Robberies and Hijackings.
The appointed Commander for the Ethekwini Inner South – Operational Command Centre is Colonel TB Small, who has been hand-picked to run the OCC due to his skills and expertise in the operational field. Colonel Small will oversee all operations planned by the OCC at Cluster level.
Ethekwini Inner South Cluster Commander, Major General Nunkumar welcomed the new Trio Crime Task Team. “I am confident that the assigned members will make a difference in the entire Cluster as they have a track record of bringing all violent criminals to book,” he said.
