A 26-year-old man was left critically injured this morning when he was knocked over by a light motor vehicle on the R101 in Corporate Park, outside of Centurion.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene shortly after 07h15 to find the pedestrian lying on the side of the road. The light motor vehicle that knocked over the pedestrian was parked just a short distance away.
Paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained serious injuries to his legs and head, leaving him in a critical condition.
Treatment and advanced life support interventions were immediately initiated, in an effort to stabilize the patient. Once paramedics had treated the patient, he was transported to Tembisa Provincial Hospital for further care.
The driver of the vehicle, a man, was assessed and found to have escaped injury.
The relevant authorities were on the scene to investigate the cause of this incident.
