A multiple vehicle pile-up on the N2 South near the Kwa Mashu Highway has left five people injured on Wednesday morning around 06:30 am.
It is believed that seven vehicles collided on the National Freeway closing the highway during peak hour. Vehicles were spread over a distance on the southbound. A total of five patients had sustained various injuries and more ambulances were dispatched to assist. Rescue Care Paramedics stabilised two patients on the scene who had sustained moderate injuries. Advanced Life Support intervention was needed to stabilise the two. Once stabilised they were transported to a nearby hospital for further care.
At this stage, the exact cause of the collision is unknown however SAPS were on scene and will be investigating further.
